Collision south of Star City

Motorists are asked to use caution

Traffic was down to one lane on Highway 681 on March 12 as emergency services from Melfort responded to a multi-vehicle collision.

RCMP said that minor injuries were sustained in the collision two kilometres west of the 681 Highway Junction, south of Star City.

Police closed the eastbound lane of the highway while dealing with the incident, which the Melfort Fire Department also responded to.

Melfort Fire Department said they also attended the collision at 5:46 am and that it initially involved two vehicles. As crews were responding, a third vehicle collided into one of the vehicles already there.

Both RCMP and Fire Department noted very icy and snow covered roads.

Firefighters also set up traffic control and help EMS crews load patients into the ambulance.  They thanked all the emergency services and tow trucks that responded.
