The City of Melfort is bringing a free Severe Weather Storm Safety presentation to the Kerry Vickar Centre on Thursday, May 23. The presentation is by Terri Lang, Severe Weather Meteorologist, Environment and Climate Change Canada and will be very informative according to Melfort Fire Chief Jason Everitt.
Everitt explained that he went to a seminar with Lang in Prince Albert a number of years ago.
“I found it to be extremely beneficial so I reached out to Terri and she more than graciously offered to bring the presentation to Melfort,” Everitt said.
The presentation is open to the public and all ages can attend.
“What Terry will do is she will talk about severe weather and storm safety and what we can do to recognize when severe weather is probable or highly likely and what we can do to insure we are safe,” Everitt said.
Everitt explained that it is a cursory storm spotting presentation.
“So you will be able to recognize various formations in the atmosphere and recognize which ones are dangerous and which ones may not be,” he explained.
The evening is free and will be at the Kerry Vickar Centre from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 23. It is presented by the City of Melfort, Melfort Fire Department and Environment Canada.
“It’s a great evening, it’s a couple of hours and you will come away with some great information. I saw this a few years ago and I continue to use,” Everitt said.
