Starting Monday, November 30, all students and staff in the North East School Division will be required to wear masks, starting at the Pre-K level.
NESD made the decision known to families and students by email on November 26.
“These new masking policies from Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer apply to all indoor locations, including where you are able to physically distance,” said Director of Education, Don Rempel.
The North East School Division is mandating mask use to be required for all staff and for students in grades Pre-K -12 when in school and while being transported on a bus.
“This means that students and staff should be encouraged to keep masks on during all times of day, with the exception of when eating or drinking. This includes while doing physical activity, with the exception of aquatic fitness,” said Rempel.
He also said that while the mandatory masking rules are intended for indoor public spaces, masks are mandatory in all places where two metres distance cannot be maintained, which can also include recess and outdoor activities.
